The supercharger of the Petrol Car parts factory uses the exhaust gas discharged from the exhaust pipe to drive the turbine to rotate at high speed, and at the same time drives the compressor impeller to rotate at high speed through the rotor shaft. Its speed can be as high as 50,000 to 230,000 r/min. The high-speed rotating compressor impeller pressurizes the inhaled air, greatly increasing the air density entering the cylinder and improving the power of the diesel engine. The turbocharger is an important part used to increase engine power and reduce exhaust emissions. Due to improper use, maintenance and care, it is easy to fail, resulting in the engine not working properly. This article introduces some common turbocharger failures and treatment methods as follows:
1. The oil consumption is large, but the exhaust smoke color is normal and the power is not reduced.
Cause: This situation is generally caused by oil leakage.
Treatment method:
(1) First, check whether the external oil pipe of the engine lubrication system (including the supercharger inlet and return oil pipes) is leaking;
(2) Check whether there is oil at the supercharger exhaust outlet. If there is oil, it can be determined that the sealing ring at one end of the turbine is damaged and the sealing ring should be replaced.
(ii) The oil consumption is large, the exhaust emits blue smoke, but the power does not decrease.
Cause: Due to oil leakage at the compressor end of the supercharger, the oil enters the combustion chamber through the engine intake pipe and is burned. There are several possibilities:
(1) The supercharger return oil pipe is not smooth, and the oil accumulates too much at the middle support of the rotor assembly and flows into the compressor impeller along the rotor shaft.
(2) After the sealing ring or oil slinger ring near one end of the compressor impeller is damaged, the oil enters the impeller chamber from here, and then enters the combustion chamber through the intake pipe together with the pressurized air in the chamber.
Treatment method:
(1) Open the air outlet of the compressor or the engine intake straight pipe (rubber hose) to see if the pipe mouth and pipe wall are adhered to the oil. If so, please check whether the supercharger return oil pipe is smooth. If it is not smooth, it is caused by excessive oil accumulation at the middle support. The return oil pipe should be cleared and reinstalled.
(2) If it is smooth, it is caused by damage to the sealing ring or oil thrower ring at one end of the impeller. The supercharger should be disassembled for repair.
(III) The oil consumption is large, the exhaust emits blue or black smoke, and the power is reduced.
Reasons:
(1) The gap between the piston and the cylinder is worn too much, and the oil leaks into the combustion chamber and is burned.
(2) When the air is sucked into the supercharger, the air flow encounters greater resistance. (For example, the air filter is blocked, the intake hose is deformed or flattened by suction, etc.), the pressure at the compressor inlet is low, causing the oil to leak into the compressor and enter the combustion chamber with the compressed air and burn.
