What should be done when the Petrol Car engine has these problems

2024 06/25

1. Not charging

When the Petrol Car engine is at medium or above speed, the ammeter pointer indicates that it is not charging, and the charging indicator light is on. First of all, consider the battery charging situation. If the charging is insufficient, it is a fault of the generator. In addition to the transmission belt being too loose and slipping, it is generally necessary to check whether the generator itself is not generating electricity or the regulator is faulty, and the charging circuit is broken. For example, the internal rectifier of the generator falls off or the contact between the bottom of the armature terminal and the diode component board is not connected; the diode breaks down and shorts, causing the stator winding to burn; the brush is stuck in the carbon brush holder and has poor contact, or the magnetic field winding is broken.

In the diagnosis, increase the Chery Car engine speed; turn on the headlights. If the ammeter pointer deflects the discharge direction instantly, it means that the generator and regulator are working normally, but the battery is fully charged; if the ammeter pointer deflects to the discharge direction, the fault is in the generator or regulator. Check whether the connectors of the charging circuit are good, whether the fan belt is too loose, and the technical condition of the generator and regulator. First, verify whether the charging system is indeed faulty. Set the Petrol Car engine to medium speed. At the moment of turning on the headlights, the ammeter pointer deviates to the "+" direction or remains in place. The battery is fully charged and the charging system is working normally. If the ammeter pointer deviates to the "-" direction, the charging system is faulty and should be repaired.
2. The charging current is too small. When the battery is insufficiently charged, increase the speed of the Petrol Car engine. The ammeter pointer indicates a smaller charging current, which is a fault of too small charging current. This is generally caused by insufficient voltage of the generator itself, poor technical status of the regulator, and increased resistance in the charging circuit.
The following steps can be used to judge and eliminate: Check whether the terminals and wire connections of various parts such as the battery, generator, regulator and ammeter are secure. Check whether the fan belt is too loose to make the generator speed low. When the above situation is normal, the limit voltage of the regulator can be checked at a medium speed of the Chery Car engine, and the generator can be disassembled to check whether there is any abnormal phenomenon of wear and damage. Check whether the active contact of the regulator is burned or has oxides, whether the gap between the active contact arm and the iron core and the spring tension meet the technical requirements; whether the wiring of the regulator is loose. If any abnormality is found, it should be repaired in time. When the Chery Car engine is running at medium speed or above, turn on the headlights. If the current still shows charging, the charging system is in good technical condition; if the power meter shows discharge, it is a fault of too small charging current and should be repaired.
3. Excessive charging current
The pointer of the Petrol Car ammeter deflects to a larger charging current position; if driving at night, when the Petrol Car engine speed is high, the lighting and instrument indicators will be particularly bright. The bulb is easy to burn out, the distributor contacts are burned, and the battery electrolyte is consumed too quickly. First, check whether the wires of the live wire and the magnetic field terminals of the regulator are connected incorrectly, and whether the active contacts are burned or bonded in the normally closed state. When checking the regulator, you can remove the magnetic field wiring. If the charging current is significantly reduced, it is a regulator failure. It may be that the low-speed contacts are sintered and inseparable, the coil is broken, etc. If the charging current is still large, it may be that the magnetic field wiring and the armature wiring are short-circuited. First, check whether the charging current is too large due to internal short circuit and serious power loss of the battery, which should be repaired.
