A brief analysis of the function of the mechanical steering gear of Petrol Car

Under normal circumstances, only a small part of the energy required to turn a Petrol Car driven by an engine-driven oil pump is the physical energy provided by the driver, and most of it is hydraulic energy.

A series of gasoline used to convert the mechanical energy output by the engine into pressure energy and, under the control of the driver, apply different hydraulic or pneumatic pressures in the direction of the steering transmission device or steering transmission components to assist the driver with insufficient force. Car parts are always called power steering gear. The following describes the types and working principles of power steering gears.
(1) Type of power steering gear
According to the different energy transmission media, there are two types of power steering gear: pneumatic steering gear and hydraulic steering gear. Due to the low operating pressure of the pneumatic system, trucks with particularly high load masses should not use pneumatic steering gears. When used in heavy-duty Petrol Car, the Petrol Car parts will be oversized. The working pressure of the hydraulic power steering gear can be as high as more than 10MPa, so the size of its Petrol Car parts is very small. The hydraulic system has no noise during work, has a short working lag time, and can absorb the impact of uneven road surfaces. Therefore, hydraulic power steering has been widely used in various classes of Petrol Car.
(2) Working principle of power steering system
The power steering system adds a power auxiliary device to the mechanical steering system. The steering oil pump 6 is installed on the engine, driven by the crankshaft through a belt, and outputs hydraulic oil. The steering oil tank 5 has an inlet and outlet oil pipe joint, which is connected to the steering oil pump and the steering control valve joint 2 respectively. The steering control valve is used to change the oil circuit. The mechanical steering gear and the cylinder block form two working chambers on the left and right, which are connected through oil lines and steering control valves respectively.
When the Geely Car is running straight, the steering control valve 2 connects the working fluid generated by the steering oil pump 6 to the fuel tank. The steering oil pump is in a discharge state, and the power steering does not have a power-assisting effect. When a Geely Car needs to turn right, the driver turns the steering wheel to the right. The steering control valve connects the working fluid generated by the steering oil pump to the R chamber. The L chamber is connected to the fuel tank. The piston moves downward under the action of oil pressure and is passed through the transmission. The structure causes the left and right wheels to rotate to the right, thereby realizing right turn. When turning to the left, the situation is reversed.
