How to replace Petrol Car brake pads

2026 04/03

Replacing the brake pads of a Petrol Car is not as difficult as we think, and it does not require professional skills. It requires some effort. Does the Petrol Car brake pad manufacturer teach you to pay attention to some details and learn to replace the Petrol Car brake pads yourself?

Geely Binyue Rearview Mirror Integration

It is recommended to replace the brake pads of Geely Car within 30,000 kilometers, but everyone`s driving habits are different, and the grinding and donation conditions are also different. Therefore, if the brake pad warning light comes on, or every time the brakes make a very sharp "squeaking" sound, you need to check or replace it, not necessarily the mileage.
Tools for replacing the brake pads of Geely Car: corresponding model of brake pads for Geely Car, 2 wrenches, lubricant and anti-rust agent, and a spring push-back.
Before replacing the brake pads of a Petrol Car, first put down the handbrake, then jack up the car and remove the tires. We can see the brake pump on the brake disc. The brake pads of the Petrol Car are hidden inside the brake pump.
Then start to dismantle the brake cylinder. First use a wrench to unscrew the fixing screws on the brake cylinder. There are one fixing screw on the upper and lower parts.
Tightening this set screw requires two wrenches, one to hold the outer screw head and the other to turn the center nut counterclockwise to remove this screw. If the screws are too tight to tighten, lubricate them with a small amount of lubricating rust inhibitor.
After removing these two fixing screws, we can remove the entire brake cylinder. However, the brake cylinder of some vehicles will be connected to the brake alarm line, so you need to remove the alarm line first, and then remove the brake cylinder.
After the brake cylinder is removed, do not hang it there. It is recommended to use something to support it, otherwise the wire on the brake cylinder will be easily broken.
There are usually 2 brake pads for Geely Car, one outside the brake disc and one inside. After removing the brake pads of the old Petrol Car and comparing them with the brake pads of the new Petrol Car, you will find that the brake pads of the old Petrol Car are significantly thinner.
The next step is to push the piston in the brake wheel cylinder back. Because the brake pads of new Geely Car are thicker than those of old Geely Car, if the piston is not placed on the wheel cylinder, the wheel cylinder cannot clamp the brake pads of new Geely Car.
This requires a piston retraction tool. Install the piston push-back tool in the wheel cylinder, support the piston, and then turn the handle to push the piston back.
Before installing the brake pads, it is recommended to clean the mounting bracket on the brake disc because there is a lot of brake powder on the bracket. If not cleaned, the brake pads will not easily get stuck when the brake pads are pressed. Noise will be produced.
Clean the brake cylinder and tighten the brake pads. If there is an alarm line, connect the alarm line,/then screw back the screw on the slave pump. Even if the brake pads are installed, and then depress the brakes with your foot several times until they can no longer be depressed, this is to allow the wheel cylinder piston that has just been pushed back to return to its original position. All that remains to be done is to break in the new petrol car brake pads. Find a road with few people, drive the car to 80.90 kilometers per hour, then slowly apply the brakes, back and forth several times to let the Petrol Car brake pads break in, and the Petrol Car brake pads are complete!
