What is the function of Honda Car oil return pipe?

2026 01/26

The function of the Honda oil return pipe is to return excess oil to the fuel tank to reduce oil consumption. Not all Petrol Car have a fuel return line. The Honda Car oil return pipe filter is installed on the oil return pipe of the hydraulic system and is used to filter metal powder and rubber impurities in the oil caused by wear of various components to keep the oil flowing back to the tank clean.

The filter element is made of chemical fiber filter material, which has the advantages of high filtration precision, large oil flow, small original pressure loss, and large dirt holding capacity. It is also equipped with a differential pressure transmitter and a bypass valve. When the filter element is clogged to the point where the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet reaches 0.35MPa, a switch signal will be sent. At this time, the filter element should be cleaned or replaced. If the filter element cannot be stopped in time or no one can replace the filter element, the bypass valve installed on the upper part of the Honda Car filter element will automatically open to protect the system. This filter is widely used in hydraulic systems of heavy machinery, mining machinery, metallurgical machinery, etc.
At present, most Petrol Car have return pipes. When the fuel pump supplies fuel to the engine, a certain pressure is formed. In addition to the normal supply of fuel to the injector for injection, the remaining fuel is returned to the fuel tank through the return pipe. Of course, the excess gasoline vapor collected by the carbon canister will also return to the fuel tank through the return pipe. The oil return pipe can return excess oil to the fuel tank, which can relieve the pressure of gasoline and reduce fuel consumption.
The fuel supply system of a diesel engine is generally equipped with three oil return pipes. Some diesel engine fuel supply systems are only equipped with two oil return pipes without a return pipe from the fuel filter to the fuel tank.
1. The oil return pipe on the fuel filter
When the fuel pressure provided by the fuel transfer pump exceeds 100~150 kPa, the relief valve in the fuel filter return pipe opens, and the excess fuel flows back to the fuel tank through the return pipe.
2. The oil return pipe on the fuel injection pump
Since the fuel delivery volume of the fuel delivery pump is 2 to 3 times the maximum fuel delivery volume under the fuel injection pump calibration condition, the excess fuel will flow back to the fuel tank through the fuel return pipe.
3. The oil return pipe on the fuel injector
When the fuel injector is working, a very small amount of fuel will leak from the mating surface between the needle valve and the needle valve body, which can act as a lubrication to avoid excessive accumulation, causing the needle valve back pressure to be too high and unable to operate. This part of the fuel is introduced into the fuel filter or fuel tank through the hollow bolt and return pipe.
